Artist Statement

In the Art On Rugs collection, I use art as a tool to lift rugs "pieces that, through their colours, patterns, motifs, styles and regions, are already works of art in their own right, and that have been laid on the ground beneath our feet for thousands of years " up to the level of our eyes. I believe it is only through the wings of art that these pieces, carrying such historical, folkloric and cultural weight, can be lifted onto the walls, to a level where they can truly meet us and be met by us. My work focuses on ideas and gestures that add further value to these already precious, beautiful rugs, and with every piece, I strive to create aesthetic work delicate enough not to overshadow the rug's own beauty
